The coral reef garden is located just off the coastline of Kailua-Kona and was formed on lava, which flowed into the ocean 18,000 years ago.  It is an important habitat for hundreds of species of tropical fish, corals and other sea life.  Scuba enthusiasts have proclaimed the Kona coastline one of the most popular sites to view Hawaiian marine life.
