Welcome to One of Hawaii’s Most Insightful Eco-tours
The year 2008 has been declared “International Year of the Reef in Hawaii”, and an Atlantis Submarine tour is an ideal way to gain first-hand insight into the value and importance of reefs and to observe how mankind can contribute to the development of reefs and associated ecosystems. In the comfort and security of one of the world’s most technologically advanced passenger submarines, you will experience remarkable reefs – on a unique underwater tour through areas pulsating with marine life.
As Atlantis Submarines’ President and CEO states, “Hawaii’s marine environment is magnificent and our submarine tour is the best way to see it up close safely. We believe in protecting our undersea environment through exploration, education, research and preservation, and we whole-heartedly support the concept of the International Year of the Reef. Our message to you is, ‘Let us show you our Hawaii,’ and by doing so we will provide memories you will never forget.”
Atlantis Submarines has maintained a prominent position in Hawaii eco-tourism since 1988, when it began offering environmentally friendly tours in these beautiful islands. Atlantis has been in the “eco-tourism” mind-set long before the term became fashionable. Atlantis submarines are powered by electricity and during operation release absolutely no pollutants into the water or air. Through innovative efforts and collaboration, Atlantis has taken measures that have literally created more undersea “homes for fish” and contributed to the growth of marine life.
Each of the three Atlantis Hawaii tour locations feature distinct characteristics enabling guests to explore their unique underwater habitats.
ATLANTIS WAIKIKI
Using the world’s most technologically advanced passenger submarines and touring a large area with abundant marine life, Atlantis offers an underwater experience unique to Hawaii – carrying guests to depths well beyond 100 feet – to places where schools of brightly colored fish frolic, where green sea turtles flourish, and beautiful coral grows. It’s a world unseen by anyone except scuba divers and fish.
Available only at its Waikiki dive site, Atlantis offers undersea adventures with even more to see and experience with its Premium Sub Tour. Guests enjoy the comfort of the world’s largest passenger submarine (seating 64 passengers) and viewports having 65% greater viewing area.
Waikiki passengers can enjoy a ride aboard an Atlantis Submarines Trolley from designated Waikiki hotels to and from the Atlantis ticket office located at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort and Spa.
ATLANTIS MAUI Atlantis Maui submarine tour guests will view a variety of exotic fish species – Moorish Idol Fish, Candy-Striped Squirrel Fish, Peacock-Colored Parrot Fish – all in their natural habitat. On occasion, a graceful Manta Ray may glide through the water. The sunken Carthaginian, a replica 19th century whaling brig provides an intriguing view for guests on the Maui tour. Visitors can witness firsthand the evolution of an exciting new artificial reef that is attracting marine life and creating an improved marine environment n the ocean off the coast of Lahaina.
The Atlantis Maui Submarine tour is one of the most popular eco-tours on the island, and as a means of contributing to the nature tourism community, Atlantis supports non-profit organizations such as the Hawaii Whale Research Foundation, The Maui Reef Fund, and the Malama Kai Foundation.
ATLANTIS KONA The Atlantis Kona dive site is located at an impressive natural coral reef spanning 25 acres. The location is so abundantly endowed with marine life that it is a favorite of scuba divers who are enthusiastic about the variety and abundance of fish in the area. The historic Kona tour location offers a marvelous opportunity for viewing underwater life in an area where lava flowed into the ocean several millions of years ago. Nearby, there are two ships that were sunk nearly a decade ago. Each submerged ship has become a haven for marine life, resulting in an increase in the number of fish in the vicinity – all of which adds greatly to the remarkable views available to submarine tour guests.
Kona was the first dive site opened by Atlantis Submarines in the State of Hawaii. Throughout 2008, Atlantis will commemorate its twentieth anniversary of service in the Hawaiian Islands as it continues offering inspiring and education tours to thousands of delighted guests.
